i have 87 ranger stx 2.9 5 speed eb 44 eb 9in thinking puting 4.0 5.0 but what gears should go with trial riding and dd thanks

With the 36's and the 2.9 I'd be looking into 5.13's or deeper.

so how are u doing with the 4.0 and 456. do u have anuff balls

I know I have enough balls for a 4.0 and 4.56's. ;missingteeth;

For 36's, I would run 5.13's...if they are really 36"s. If they are closer to a 35" or 34" tire, 4.56 will do fine.

I'm going to be running 4.10's soon. Right now with the 4.0L/5 speed/3.73's I have no problems spinning the rear with a trac-loc.

So if you go V8 and C4 your likely going to be high on the RPM's at 60 Mph, even with 4.10's and 33's. Buddy of mine was running that combo and 3.73's would have been better out on the highway.

513 even with a 4.0 or a 5.0 i now i will swaping in a 4.0 prob 1st easyer and cheaper i think maybe down the road 5.0

I was running 35" mt radials when I installed my 4.56's. Its still pretty decent with the 36" swampers. I wish I would have went deeper, just for a better low range ratio.

I'll be bumping to 35's in the next year or two. With the 4.10's and 35's I shouldn't be much different than the 3.73's and 33's I have now.

I wouldn't go more than 4.56 w/35's or 4.88's with 36's if this is a daily driver/ wheeler. Your going to be up near 3000 RPm with OD and the millage is going to suck.

I'm just below 2000 rpm (OverDrive) on the highway doing 65. with the 4.10's it will bump me closer to 2400 rpm.

With my 4.56's and in OD at 60mph i'm spinning 2400rpm with the 36's
