ok i know that this topic is more than likely worn out but im going to ask anyways i have a 2.3L ranger standard transmission, i am wanting to put a 351 engine in it and i also want to either super charge it or put a turbo on it idk which would be better, i would like to know all the parts that i am going to be needing to put on it and if possible a rough estimate on what the parts will cost me thanx so much for the help in advance( i would like to keep it street legal)

First of all, depends on what state and county you live in as to "legality", also what year Ranger makes a big difference in what you can and cant do, then whether youre going to use EFI or carb is another concideration. If you have deep pockets and no skills.. could be done EFI and blower for probably around
$8000..by the time you build a block get a harness..get a blower...all the plumbing..fuel system..thats just to get it running..then you will need new trans..rear end..and on and on and on...I have way over $10k in mine and its a homemade POS...so good luck

I would think the least expensive option would be to find someone who is selling a Foxbody Mustang/Thunderbird with forced induction on a 351W and buy that. Swap out those parts into your Ranger and that way you would have a complete engine combination (we are assuming works) for a lot less than you can buy the parts for individually. You would likely have left some plumbing left to do for an intercooler and header modifications.

Since you are shooting for street legal, let's say you shoot for a mild boot of 8-10 psi. If you wanted to build a fresh motor, you wouldn't need super fancy parts but as #1 Lone Ranger stated the $10,000 mark would come and go pretty quick.
