351 / C4 93 Ranger is on the road

I bought it with the orange paint, it's not what I would have picked but it's pretty good and that's what I wanted. I have a car with black paint to babysit and dry off with a towel, I want a truck I can use even if it rains.

looks awesome!

Sharp looking Ranger! Which Vintage A/c unit is that? Looking to do somewhat of the same thing with the '93 extended cab I sold to my son-in-law as a project and he wants to keep the a/c as well but need to get rid of the inline 4 cyl for more pulling power.

That thing is a bad truck! 😎

It's Vintage Air'a mini unit. I wish it had a provision to draw in outside air but it gets cold and fit in a small space. Vintage Air is in Texas, they couldn't understand why I'd want to pull outside air into my truck.

thats a very nice little ac unit and looks like it fits perfectly. i have the same dash and was wondering where i was going to fit the vintage air. does the air come out of the dash vents? do you have photos of how you did that? thanks.
plan to dyno this thing?

I hooked the air up to 3 of 4 factory dash registers, if I hadn't cut the factory ducts out I could have fed all 4. My oil pressure gauge fits good where the 4th register was anyway. I just finished installing Duraspark in place of the Pertronix distributor. The Pertronix unit had a delay built into the centrifugal advance that I didn't like, now it starts with a bump of the key like my Mustang. I'll se how it runs with the advance work set up properly, then probably replace the Offenhauser Dual Port with an Edelbrock Performer and try that before doing a cam swap.I have no plans to dyno it but I may take it to New England Dragway just to see how it does. I've decided to leave the convertor for now but I'm going to reseal the transmission to get a firmer 1-2 shift in drive.

Love the truck. I'm considering a Vintage air kit using stock Explorer compressor, condenser, etc. I'd like to hear how well it cools things down as I live in Texas. I put aluminized heat barrier throughout the cab floor and that really helped.

what condenser did you use? is that the only component needed ouside of the actual unit itself?

The condenser came with the kit from Vintage Air, the compressor is a fox body Mustang piece because that's what I used for brackets. Vintage has a better looking bracket that I didn't find out about until I'd already bought mine. I called Vintage directly to get the combination of parts I wanted instead of just buying a complete kit from Summit or Speedway. The mini kit is more than adequate for my regular cab, Vintage is in Texas so they know about hot weather. I covered the whole interior of my cab with Summit's brand of Dynamat, not necessarily for heat, I had to scrape all the factory sound deadener off to get rid of the mouse smell.

Your truck is a thing of beauty. My hats off to you, you've created a work of art. Thats just my personal "Unsolicited Opinion" though. Are the seats out of a Mustang ? If they are, then I've decided what seats and console are going in mine, if I can find them, or at least a set close to the way they look. I'd like to get rid of the factory 60/40 seats in my truck.
