35 mph up hill

well, if the cat was plugged, that would certainly cause what you're describing.

if your cat ever rattles at idle or comming up to speed, chances are its bad. if it only has power problems sometimes, chances are your cat is bad

i took it in about a month ago and had the tailpipe replaced from the back of the muffler, minus the resonator. they told me everything looked good. muffler and cat, which both were replaced about 4 yrs ago. I never get any rattling from the cat.
i did at that time have a warped exhaust manifold, which is now repaired.
i think ill take out the maf sensor and see what kind of condition that is in.

you don't have a maf sensor.

since california wont let Autozone pull codes, i took it in to a shop and had them pull codes.
the only code it pulled was a 33. not bad since ive never had anyone pull codes in the 5 years ive had it.
i also had them replace the Fuel filter. 25.00 in labor. the old one was so plugged i couldnt even pass air thru the filter when blowing into it. dont have a clue how the engine was getting fuel.
i did replace it with a motorcraft filter, which i already had.

My 88 b2 with the 2.9l, a4ld, 4.10s and 225/70/15s would top out at 45 on hills like that too. I think it's the crap trans. do a 4.0l or v8 swap with a manual and be happy
