Hello,

I will be upgrading the front Dana 35 with a lunch box lock and axles. Yes I've seen upgrade 27 spline axles, but since I plan to replace both the spiders and axles, (since they are the weak links in these axles) why not upgrade both to 31 or better splines. Does anyone offer this combination?

Thanks

I haven't heard of anything. Wouldn't it require some different bearings/seals throughout the front? And custom hubs?

Maybe. Tt would theoretically be able to use a bearing with the same OD but larger ID for the bigger axle. Same thing for the seal but bearings and seals are very well documented. I know on Ford 9" they had 31 spline axles that fit the standard 28 axle housing/bearings/seals.

Why not just go with chro-moly shafts? They’re available, just not cheap…

I didn't know other spline counts were available for the D35. I thought it is just what it is.

Depending on what lunchbox locker you use, you don't need new side gears. The Aussie Locker replaces the side gears with different pieces.

bigger than 30 splines in chromo will make the carrier the weak link.....go from shafts to whole carriers....

you can get 30 spline carriers for the d35 but axles will be high dollar.

at that point run RCV.... but uh.... yeah that carrier will be the weak link.
