what whould i need to do to be able to fit 31" tires on an 87 ranger 2WD?

a 3" body lift is definatly in the plans..just not yet..

i think that would do. if u dont plan on lifting it soon, ull have to trim the fenders.

will they hit anything steering related? i know my dad has 31" on a stock jeep cherokee and they rub on the control arm a little..

Maybe get a decent spacer if it hits his control arm? Wouldn't that push it out a bit...

i would just trim your fenders front and rear. may need a slight spacer on the front depending on the backspacing of your wheels but i wouldnt worry about it if its just a slight rub on your radious arms at full lock.

They will fit on stock rims just fine..... IIRC, they will not rub anything like the steering arms under normal circumstances....

BUT.... they WILL hit the fenders without any lift at all. Even a 2-3" lift on that body style they may still hit the bottom corner of the front fender requiring a tweak.

idk about the 2wd. but on a 4wd its likely they will rub the sway bar.. but you could just ditch the sway bar! lol

I am considering doing this same thing to my 90. Since Im running a 2.3L I want to swap in an 8.8 rear with a LS and 410 gears first. I hope to retain some kinda mileage.

I had 31s on my 94 2wd with 4.10s & it was ok ,but 4.56 would be much better

Look up the washer mod in the the tech section, do some strategic trimming and run it.

31s will clear a 93 with no rubbing i ran 32s with no lift and only rubbed at full lock.

that depends on the offset of the wheel your using, im using Jeep cherokee wheels & the tire rubs against the sway bar up front & the frame in back at full turning ,unsure if a D30 has wider front track ,but if not then when I do my D30 SAS 4wd conversion I will be looking towards wheel spacers being that I will be running 33s

How bad did it effect your gas mileage? I was hoping a gear swap would make the loss mimimal.
