Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum. The reason for my post is that I am starting an engine swap for my 98 Ranger. I am going to use a 3.8 super charged v6 from a 1990 Thunderbird Super Coupe. I have read some of the posts on the site and this engine really has received some undeserved bad comments. I have raced the engine I am going to use for the last 6 years without out any head gasket issues. I have decided to pull the engine from the Super Coupe and put it in the Ranger because of the weight issue with the Thunderbird. The Tbird weighs 4100# with driver, the Ranger will weigh 3100# with driver. 1000# weight reduction = approximately 1 second off your ET. The Thunderbird runs consistent 8.70 1/8 mle times and 13.70 1/4 mile times.

Anyway, I need to know if anyone has done this swap. I need info on the computer swap I will have to do. It will be 1990 SC Tbird to 1998 4 cylinder Ranger. Thanks for any and all help.
I will post pictures of the swap as it progresses.

Thanks again

i would go standalone if i were you because the SC motor would be OBDI and your 1998 ranger 4 cyl is OBDII

so, run the OBD1 wiring and gauges.

you may be 1000 pounds lighter, but your 1000 pounds lighter in the ass, how you gonna keep down the skinny ass with an engine meant for a fat ass?
