I did this on my wheelin rig for about a year. First let me say my rig was for the trail only so it never saw street driving.
I had 33’s then went to 35’s, But I have a doubler. With my 2.9, M50D trans, doubler and 3.73 gears I had to use double low a lot. Without a doubler I would never want to wheel with any RBV drive train combo with 35’s and 3.73’s. For the type of wheelin I do slipping the clutch or going way to fast would be in order. Now this might not be the case for you, but if you don’t wheel hard and DD it more, well that’s going to suck as well.
Now I have 4.88 gears and it makes a world of difference. My truck still does not see the street other than on a trailer or tow-bar, but it can haul down the two tracks unlike it ever could with 3.73’s.
If you want bigger tires save and get the gears first. But if you must as many do, expect shitty power, slipping the clutch if you have a manual or a HOT auto.
