hi my name is luis and i have a ford ranger edge 2001 manual transmission v6 3.0L I was doing a research in my country about a complete head swap from a 3.0L taurus into my 3.0L ranger but no one knows about this so a need a little help, some usefull information to carry on with my project thanks & good bye!

Where are you from? Welcome to TRS at any rate.

The Taurus 3.0 heads are mated in reverse due to the fact the coolant flows in the opposite direction in the Taurus than the Ranger. However, they will swap onto a Ranger 3.0 provided you use the appropriate gasket set for a Ranger 3.0.

i'm from panama way down on the carribean, this taurus heads and cam if they fit on my 3.0L would they make any difference? would i have more torque better rpm? i'm really excited to add a little mor hp to my car but thing in my country ar a little expensive, i want to buy the right stuff so it doesn't become a waste of money. thanks for the help & information, meanwhile i'll be searching those heads over here good bye!

the heads on the taurus are exactly the same as those on your ranger. the coolant flow direction is determined by using either fwd or rwd head gaskets. you will not gain any horsepower or torque with the taurus heads.

the taurus 3.0 does use a little bit different cam, but its tuned for more RPM than your current cam...so you will sacrifice torque for HP with it. however, the difference is so small that you probably wouldnt notice with the old butt dyno.

thanks you very much for the info now i won't waste my money you have been a lot of help to me, if you guys have some pics of your rides let me now iff you hace them on a website to check them out, again thanks for the help good bye!

ive got pics on my cardomain (click "click for candy" under my sig.) and a bunch of random stuff on my photobucket: HERE

if he is able to get heads from a methanol based 3.0L then he may notice a slight performance increase

the difference between flex and non-flex heads is 2cc's of displacement...its not going to raise his compression enough to make a noticeable difference in power. you'd get better results from advancing your timing a few degrees and thats a whole lot less work and money.

if he combines them with copper shim gaskets, he can get enough to notice some improvement. if he wanted to spend the money

You can always port the heads like listed in the 3.0 technical section. I just got done doing that and I am pleased.

what about 3.0 sho heads? would they fit a ranger and what add do they get.

completely different beast, the 3.0 in the show i believe is a yammaha engine if im not mistaken

mhughes is right, the SHO is 90% unrelated to the 3.0 vulcan. the heads are dual overhead...no way they could be made to fit.
