3.0l Swap To Bronco Ii

hi, i have 1989 bronco II with a 2.9l engine that turned on fire I was looking for some info on a engine swap so i can put on a 3.0l that i have it was from a ranger, do i need to buy special engine mounts? any special parts that i have to buy to make this work? any help is good! thanks!

Well, like others have said, as long as you have the motor mounts from the donor truck, and the computer, a trans adapter or the 3.0 trans, you should be good to go

sheesh reading through this post I am afraid to bring it up again with starting a diatribe......but I really really want a 3.0L in my B2. So the 5 spd in my 89 B2 wont mate with a 3.0L?

No, the 3.0 has a unique bell housing bolt pattern, differing from the 2.8/2.9/4.0 Cologne family.

But, there were a LOT of 4wd 3.0 Rangers made, so their trannies should be readily available.

Since the 3.0 are so weak :icon_confused:, the JY trans shouldn't be worn out, right? I'd look for the newest year 3.0 trans you can find.

Weak? I think not. I have had 3 vehicles with 3.0L in them all of which well over 250K miles no issues. I just want a 3.0L because the mileage on a 4.0L is terrible compared to 2.9L/3.0L

Then why not just swap it with another 2.9 and save alot of work...

later,
Dustin
