I have a 93 Ranger with a 3.0 and a 95 with a 3.0. The 93 was wrecked with low miles on the engine and the 95 is getting close to showing 200k on her. Will the 3.0 out of the 93 swap out into the 95?

Welcome to TRS!

It should swap over just fine, you might want to mark the wiring harness on the 95 and disconnect it from the motor and re-use it with the other motor. You might also want to check the VIN code on both trucks to make sure that they were the same motors (they should be). IIRC there is a VIN decoder in the tech pages on here (link is at the top of the forums).

they are the same. The Vulcan is the only version of the 3.0 ever put in a Ranger. The DOHC never made it. Shame really, I'd like to see a 3.0 DOHC Ranger.

Anyway, yeah, should work, might need to swap a sensor or two over from the 95 but you should be good.

Don't forget to swap the dist out of the 93 for the cps of the 95. use all the sensors for the 95. blocks heads and alt and all that stuff should be fine but lots of sensor and wiring changed after 94. Not a big deal at all.

Thank you all

Yea, but they did alter it slightly for a lil more power and to handle flex fuel, offhand I couldn't remember what year they did that.

Thank you all

Nope, just rearranged some sensors. The biggest difference in a FF truck will be the fuel system and controls. the base engine is the same. Also, I don't think they made an FF ranger until 99ish.

"In 1991, it was updated with lower-friction pistons, a strengthened block, roller camshaft and other changes that resulted in a power rating of 145 hp and a torque rating of 160 ft·lbs. In 1998 further improvements were made, with a new intake manifold, changes in engine management and cam timing; output was further increased to 155 hp (115 kW) and 185 ft·lbs. A plastic upper intake was added in 2001."

Lifted that from the tech pages. Looks like the basic block is relatively the same though.
