3.0 or 4.0?????

going 80, you got 21mph consistently? that makes no sense... i assume you mean mpg... but even that doesn't make sense... 15-18 at 60-65 would be optimal... you're not going to get 3-6mpg better, with an additional 15-20mph... do you mean 12mpg at 80?

Nope. I meant 21mpg @ 80... I drove back from central Colorado to Lincoln, filled up twice, both times my mileage calculated out to about 21mpg...

I get much better mpg if I drive it faster, believe it or not, that's the way it is.

I know it sounds crazy but I get metter milage on my 4.0 at 75+ than I do at 60, 65 across the salt flats just east of town to SLC. I have tried it many times and the truck just does better !

If you get a 3.0L and are using stock size tires, get the 4.10:1 gearing, its much better for it.

the 2.9 and the 3.0 are uncomparable, the 2.9 is just simply more powerful.

however, if you get a 3.0, it's a fine engine, you just can't be afraid to floor it.

i had a 3.0 automatic supercab, 2001 model year, it was a fine truck.
