3.0 no torque

let me see if i can get you to understand what i have done to mine. i started out with a 00 3.0 auto 4x4 x-cab, all stock. i got some 315 mt's put on and lost all my power going down the road. start with the free mods. do the throttle cable, throttle body coolant bypass, and the air box mods first. the air box mod gave me just a little more at take off, not even enough to spin the wheels over. it lets the motor suck in more air. the opening ford gave the air box is a joke. well, i still didn't have it like i wanted, so i read on here to run the truck with the over drive off. it helped a lot driving down the road. my next upgrade was the 1.7 rockers. they made the top end awesome. under drive pulleys went on last weekend and they help with the bottom end also. i still have to run with the overdrive off to keep it running down the road. sometime this week, ill be swapping out an 8.8, with 4:88 and a Detroit locker, so i can get my rpms back up and be able to run with the overdrive on. i was skeptical about the overdrive for a while until i tried it. gas milage came back up a little and i could run steady rpms again. i know the gears are gonna be kick ass in this truck. if i knew then, what i know now, id put in the gears in, done the air box mod, and under drive pullys. they are gonna be your biggest help.

Don't forget to re-gear the front too, or you'll have a 2wd truck. :icon_thumby:

I fixed them.

the opening ford gave the air box is a joke.

Yea, Ford engineers said; "We don't think that airbox is restrictive enough, lets choke it some more and reduce the power."

Wasn't that the original suggestion? You guys are going to have to decide if you want an offroad truck or a highway truck, or spend real money on a truck with enough engine to do both - and give up gas mileage.
