So my buddy is replacing his crankshaft and im helping him. i accidently forget to remember which way the Pistons go in. there is a dash mark on the rod, dos it point in? or outside of the block? just a stock 3.0 V6 single cab ranger. thanks.

marks on the pistons usually point forward. marks on the rods, not so sure about. but im pretty sure the thicker side of the rod faces the counterweights. call a machine shop, they can prob tell you better.

I can back up cush, the haynes manual says the arrow on the piston must face the front of the engine. As far as the rods go, it does not specify. You don't remember how they came off either?
