i do have to complain about the oil filter location too, it spills oil all down the block and onto the starter motor, and then it drips for a few minutes and leaves a nice coating on my radius arm crossmember and transmission. i have been thinking about making some kind of special drip shield to install before removing the filter, kind of like the man funnel http://www.billywho.com/ offered for some of the newer 4-stroke MX bikes, but im sure it would look much more crude. or i could just find some empty space and put a filter relocator kit on it and be done with it?

My 3.0 is strong, it starts even when its really cold and it really likes full synthetic 5-30. My problem with it is it sucks the fattest part of my butt when its hooked to fords more than crappy auto tranny.

I've heard that as well, a manual trans help the 3.0 a lot.

My 3.0 auto is fine, fairly good mud motor since it's so rev happy, works fine in the sand as long as you're in the right gear(4.10 rear end FTW). Even the 5r55e tranny in mine sucks(edge model ). MPG really isn't that bad, 18 mixed, 20+ on the freeway at 83 going through west texas with 31" tires.

probably going to overhaul her next summer, new gaskets/whatever else, probably going to put morana's box intake and some rockers in, but other than that a good little motor
