3.0-4.0 ?

I was given a 93 xlt 4x4, how can I tell what motor it has? there r no markings. need help. Thanks Jeff

99% it's a 4.0, unless someone ordered it with a 3.0, generally from what i've seen the 3.0 has 3.0 on the valve covers also. lol

Look for a sticker labeled "Catalyst" under the hood too, it always has engine size on it.

if it has a distributor and the passenger side valve cover says "3.0 V6" then its a 3.0.

well, for the 4wd 93xlt the 4.0 was the standard V-6 option if i remember correctly. my 91 3.0 has a dis. on it. not sure about the ones for 93's

You can tell by the intake manifold

keep in mind that 3.0 intake manifold is backwards (set up for a tauras).

going to go out on a limb and say. why do WE miss the easy and obvious thing?

just look at the fan shroud. says it right there. 4.0 has righthand threads for the fan and 3.0 has lefthand threads
