2x4 to 4x4 conversion

seems like u can convert the 2WD Edges into 4x4, they already came with the torsion bar suspension

Can we go a little further with this? explaining the differences.

all that was mentioned is that 2wd is coil sprung and 4wd uses torsion bars.
I assume the coil spring runs through the upper A arm and seats into the lower A arm.
4wd would have the torsion bar entering the rear of the lower A arm near the pivot at the frame, leaving the center area open for the axle shaft.

a side view pic of stock 98+ 2wd suspension with the wheel removed and a side view pic of stock 98+ 4wd suspension with the wheel removed would answer many questions.

I've got a new project brewing that involves an coil sprung 98+ ranger ex cab 2wd 4 cyl 5 spd. I need to keep the IFS and have 4x4.

If I remember I can get a pic of a 98+ 2wd front suspension within the next couple days (whenever it stops raining, lol). The spring does not go through the upper A-arm, it's a stubby A-arm that comes off the top of the frame. The coil bucket is actually part of the frame and seats on the lower A-arm. The front shock is located in the middle of the coil.
