My credo
If you expect the worst and hope for the best, you're already planning for failure.
I am looking to replace the factory shift boot in my 96 XLT 5spd, but I don't want the generic same old same old. Any one have any resources for something different?

I made one for the Mustang I had out of giant microfiber lens cloths.

I seriously doubt there is anything on the market that wouldn't require some work to fit.

Redline used to do them, I would assume that they probably still do. https://www.redlinegoods.com/

Never used them myself, but I remember people here using them with good results.

I got the cheapest shift boot for my 2010 off Amazon. It came complete with everything you could need. Much of the job is removing the center console screws. It's a half hour job and then another half hour of bragging to your wife and anyone else who I could fool into thinking it required brilliance.
