At the end of the day... it really doesn't matter.

Denise... you aren't gonna buy a part for your truck based off generation... you will do it by model year. But i will just say this... you're technically right.

Grab a glass of lemonade and have a seat in front of the fan... maybe try a shot of vodka in the lemonade. Maybe a few shots and this will all seem funny and not cause you a heart attack.

As per request. This thread is closed.

As far as facts go
83-88 1st gen
89-92 2nd gen
93-97 3rd gen
And so on and so forth.

That is how this thread will end. Base your purchasing decisions off these facts.

Goodnight y’all

1st gen --- 83-88
2nd gen --- 89-92
3rd gen --- 93-97

Snoranger is right. Wikipedia is wrong. The problem with wikipedia is that any idiot can contribute to it. Their breakdown of generations doesn't make any sense.

What snoranger posted is the standard used in the Ranger community and the aftermarket.

Some people consider the 1998-2011 the 4th generation, and some consider the 2004-2011 Ranger a 5th generation.

Generations have followed body style changes.

The lady that wrote that blog post on the Chiltons website is a freelance writer that likely knows nothing at all about Ford Rangers.
