i bought an 84 bronco II a couple years ago for $300 in dang good shape till some jack@zz totaled it :bawling: so now im considering using it as a mud/huntin truck with a v8 4+" lift etc... ive got a 289 layin around and a 302 so which would be easier, ive been told the 289 would be more fun (considerin i have access to 4.56 gears) bcuz it revs higher but isnt more options performance options for 302?... any advice to help my decision is greatly appreciated

If you plan on ratting it around the 289 will give you the better top end I guess it depends on the gear cases and how much adapting you need to do. I had a hypo 289 in a 1964 fairlane sport coup with a four speed and hurst competition plus shifter I couldnt blow up. Alot of california corn flakes in the back seat of that car back in high school.

it would be a 289 with a freshly rebuilt c4, possibly a 9" rearend eventually but at first it would be the stock 7.5" my 289 is also be a hi-po from a fairlane but its a 67. my family has ALOT of fairlanes & torinos lol. the only reason im gettin that 289 is bcuz we are puttin a 390 in that car
