This is our second time, we would be down to go again next year. We were close enough to the end of a high risk pregnancy I was worried about getting a travel restriction and it shutting us down, plus it was close in both time and location to the 2025 Ranger Adventure or I would have pushed it more as a TRS event.
The expo is neat, kind of a melting pot of different ideas. I was as surprised as I am sure you all will be... there ain't much bolt on stuff there for an '85 Ranger. Quite a bit of stuff for 19+ though. So I kinda look around for inspirational ideas both for the vehicle side and camping side. Everybody is friendly and freebies are flowing... its just a good time. I did pick up some GoRhino soft shackles and more Rollercam straps for my fridge. Event sale prices were cheaper than Amazon and GoRhino even threw in a plastic Rhino toy for 85_Ranger4x4jr.
I brought a backpack for stuff this year, it worked a lot better than the freebie handbangs they hand out.
Nice variety of stuff to see at the expo, especially for the money. Most people camp at the fairgrounds, we started camping at SMORR last year when they were more involved in the expo and really like that over camping in what I picture as a grass parking lot. I ought to check it out sometime though. Camping is a lot more expensive than SMORR plus they charge per vehicle not per tent.
They have classes at the expo but we are always short on time. The Expo really needs two days to do it right something close to right. The Discovery thing was pretty tight for a day.
For the area... even with the Expo off the table there is a lot to do. Ozarks, Mark Twain National Forest, Branson, Silver Dollar City... if you can't find something to do you might as well just stay home. Heck, Cashew Chicken was even invented in Springfield!
