2012 Boss 302!!!

100% junk. I will never buy one of the new mustangs. The older ones are far better in every way and will never lose their retail value. These are just boy toys for idiots with more money then since. Once you own it it will never bw worth what you paid for it down the road.

To coin one of your terms; "stay in school". :D

Really though..... 100% junk? What proof do you have?

I understand where you are coming from, but lets try not to be too biased.
This is my dad's Boss 302:

There are certain qualities that can never be had in a new car, no matter how much money you have. Example being, the nostalgia of the car is priceless. Everyone... and I mean everyone... loves this car, even Chevy guys stop and drool. But to say that this 41 year old car is better in every way is a far cry from the truth. For Pete's sake, the new Boss 302's have 2 keys that reprogram the computer, one for street driving and one for race day. You can't tell me that Ford doesn't wish they had that technology back in 1970

I have always loved them Boss's, they just sound mean. Problem with having something classic like that is being able to drive it rather than keep it in a garage. I have no problem at all taking mine out for six hours on a weekend or just making a "beverage" run. I can spend 15 mins at a parts store for a one min purchase. guys always stop and have to look and comment, then the hood comes open.

Doing all the work to my car has gotten me to this point (not calling an 89 a classic quite yet). After all that's been done to it, I really don't want to take it to the store. On the rare occasion I do, I park in "no mans land" and hope some butthole doesn't park next to me. Plus we have construction going on at work, so I don't take it there either.

(At least I think this is what you meant by your comment Dave)

You understood correctly. With all the time and money you have spent getting that car to where it is, didn't you meant it as a DD.

I did intend for it to be my summer DD. But I've changed my thoughts on that a bit. Not only am I scared of door dings, but the freeway I take to and from work has a canal next to it. This particular canal has lots of flying bugs that apparently are attracted to Oxford White paint. So, every time I take it to work it looks like hell.

EDIT: I've made an executive decision to drive it to work today anyway. LOL

I don't know....if I get my dream car of a Boss 302 next year, I will be going to the grocery store with the wife and Sam's Club to get whatever, and love it. Will I park in the back 40? Heck yeah. Will some numb nuts park next to me as close as they can just to be a prick? Probably. Such is life.

The only question left for me is Black on Orange or Orange on Black?

lets say that the original BOSS 302 cost $4,850. They are worth more then $75,000 now if in prime condition.

So if you pay $55,000 for a new Laguna Seca edition several years down the road it to will be worth several $$$$$ more then you payed for it as long as its in great condition.

That the same with any car or truck as it becomes a collector. Usually 25 + yrs before it takes place.

I enjoy messing with people like you, I hold my "rustic" Ranger in somewhat the same reguard that many do their fancy show cars. I mean no harm but I do wish I could see their faces when they see a lowly 1980's Ranger parked next to them.

I park in the boonies no matter what though.

Also gotta keep in mind, back when that Boss was new people were working for literally a couple bucks an hour. Whatever they bought it for then, it wasn't a cheap car.

Dad bought a rust free 1967 325hp SS396 Chevelle 4spd Muncie for $125 in the late '70's. It smoked a little but still had tons of power. Smoked the stock tires in 3 gears and get a very healthy squeel into fourth... or so I heard. It had evolved into a barely streetable monster when he was forced to sell it when I was born in 1984.

Nobody really knows what the future holds for a given car. If gas dies out in the next couple years it would make the bottom fall out of the market. And when the people that aspired to have them when they were new and want to relive their childhood die out... they will lose a lot of value too.

about a month ago there was a 1 hr show on spike or speed channel that dealt with the making of the 2012 BOSS 302 & Parrnell Jones & Carol Shelby were both involved with input into the performance & handle of the NEW BOSS. The Laguna Seca version is the way to go , even has the rear seat deleted & a x bar installed for extra bracing & L.S. version sits lower with front splitter & better brakes & tires & much, much more. :icon_thumby:

hahaha i saw that one it was awesome!

Yep, put it away, don't have the joy of driving it to keep it in that prime condition. Factor in the cost of insurance for 25 years and see where you are. Reggie Jackson had a very fine collection of Fords he had in storage without insurance and lost the whole 40 Million dollar collection to a fire. I know of several who road race their $50K Roushs and never think twice on storage.

This si a sad trend, dad's sellin all the cool cars before we were born. My dad had a decent laundry list of cars, nothin horribley special but still something a Junior would want to park in the High School parking lot.

The car he had when I was born- we called it a Tonka Jeep.
