Good Evening,
I have 2011 Ranger 2.3 /5sp/ 8.8" / open / 4.10 gear set.
I want to change the gear set to a 3.55 and add a LS but need to figure out the spline.
I did check at this:
http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...icker.pdf?vin=[enter vin here] )
but it doesn't give spline info
Would anyone have an idea as to the 2011 Canadian series Rangers as to whether they came with 28 or 31 spline shafts.
Thanks

Ranger Axle

Oh yes...I should mention the truck is 2wd and there is a plasti-wrap tag on the axle with S314D on it and the door sticker says "Axle" "97"

The 4:10 is a great setup. You have a 4 cyl motor....you need the 4:10 gear to give you performance. You will loose performance and hauling and towing performance as well with a 3:55 setup. I run 33x12.5x15 KO A/T tires with my 4.0 and I get 24 mpg on the highway with my Yakima roof rack. I never remove the roof rack. It is there for life. Why spend the money on 3:55 gears?

Yeah, Cat is right. 4-cyl with 3.55 gears will suck balls and gas. You won't gain a darn thing by doing that. Also, if you ever end up having a problem with the rear axle and the gears in it don't match what Ford's build sheet says your warranty won't cover it.
