I'm going crazy trying to find and replace one or both sensor/sender units! I've got a check engine light on and the temp gauge stays on cold regardless. The truck runs fine but I can't register it until the check engine light is OUT. I have a new thermostat installed (so easy).

Does someone have a good photo showing both locations?? Or a great description? 2011 2.3 Liter Coolant Temp Sensor

that big metal tube on the passenger side that goes past the coil,, follow it back behind the engine. the coolant sensor protrudes from the top of it near where it ends.
so its behind & below the coil pack. next to the firewall. it's hard to get to.
from a 2005 manual.

not to be confused with the cylinder head temperature sensor, it's on the top between spark plugs 2 & 3

2001 to 2011 2.3l Duratec used a CHT(cylinder heat temp) sensor instead of an ECT(engine coolant temp) sensor

In 2007 2.3l also lost the Temp Sender for dash board temp gauge, the computer uses CHT sensor data and sends that to the Digital Cluster temp gauge
So there is no temp sender on the 2007-2011 2.3l Ranger

Below are the diagrams for 2006 cluster that shows the standard red/white temp sender wire, sender is in lower left of diagram
In 2007 its gone, cluster has gone full digital for most things, Fuel gauge is only analog signal going to cluster, beside on/off type switches
