2010 Fusions

well, right or wrong we drove the car home last night. it has to be better than that pos monte carlo she had. thanks for the input guys. i read some of the "Complaints" most were BS, one person complained because it needed a F!CKING battery replaced, seriously??? people amaze me!!!

Hey Asdm08, if i get you the VIN, can you run an oasis report for me???
Thanks again

Yeah, I'll run it. OASIS is not substitute for a proper vehicle history though.

Did you read those, or just look at the numbers?

A lot of those were for the transmission issue that Ford had a recall for.

A lot of others were for other issues that are common in most modern cars with fly-by-wire systems. Namely failure of the throttle body unit.

I know you get to sit around and troll the web for complaints on cars all day, but I work on them day in and day out. There is nothing I've seen about ECTB setups that has me convinced the systems should be in common service yet, but everyone is using them. They fail on Fusions, Edges, Explorers, F-150s, Chevy and Dodge.

EDIT: Looking through more of these, one guy from Texas posted his issue multiple times under different categories. Many people seem to be complaining about their dealership more than their car, and by page 3 I count at least 2 times where people experienced a minor hickup or failure (from the information they gave) and then demanded large repair be performed or large assemblies be replaced without any sort of diagnostics performed and then were upset with the DEALER when they refused to do thousands of dollars of work that they wouldn't get reimbursed for from warranty.

Yes, Bro. I know. I said this is just one site. I found a bunch of sites last year for sister-in-law and her boss. They both have Fusion's with issues. She had the tranny replaced at 15,000 miles. Starter went out two months after the tranny was replaced. She lost the power window on the passenger side twice. Her boss also bought one a year before she did and he had the tranny went out on him at 10,000. But it all has been under warranty. After I saw so many complaints I did not buy one. I almost bought a new Ford last year but changed my mine. I bought a 2010 Nissan Rouge that I really love the hell out of and I love the power and handling with the AWD and the 17 inch wheels. The only Ford I really like still is the Raptor.

Malibu's suck. My neice has an 06. Really wierd problem that the parking light fuse would blow. No rear tail lights, dashlights, or front marker lights. GM tech says common problem on that car. Nephew pulled on the wire bundle between the drivers door and body of car problem fixed for now. What a POS.

Good luck on the Fusion knock wood.

I dunno what you guys are doing to them.

The tranny problems they had not withstanding Fusions have been one of the least problematic vehicles that we see in my shop.

Believe me, every time we have a friend buy a new car and they DO have a problem we hear all about it!!! Now if they don't have any problems we still hear about it and happy they are with it....lol

My ex had one it was a 4cyl 5 speed was a fun car I had nothing bad to say about it she loved it but traded it in on a new fiesta though for better mileage and a lower car payment.

There were a number of issues that were both indemic and specific to the new transmission used in the 4-cyl Escapes and Fusions starting in 2010. They have for the most part been hammered out.

Zman, check the fluid level, if OK but burnt, have your parents take it to the dealer and ask for the 10B18 (I think is't 18) load test to be done.

The car and the engine are both nice. Much better than the 2.3 in terms of power. Water pump isn't fun to change though.

Thanks. The first thing I did was check the fluid and its fine. I had a bit of a brain fart though, I meant its a 2011, not 2010.

You guys bought a 2011 with 36,000 miles on it?? Why not just buy a new car?? Somebody dumped it and got rid of it for a reason. It might have been a rental or a loaner (shops use them to run errands and pick up customers. You need to run a Carfax on it, Bro. I would not have bought a 2011 with 36,000 miles on it....... No way!!!!

These transmission issues didn't happen to be with the POS CVT transmission did it?

My understanding was aside from quikie lube places putting regular mercon in them the CVT's were a very stout transmission.

The dealership my brother works at hasn't had an abmormal rush on Fusion tranny's either, he thinks very highly of them as a good car.

No. This is a new conventional 6-speed auto. I honestly suspect that a lot of the problems were programming errors in the TCM. I've driven one without programming the TCM properly. It was not pleasant.

This is true, but they were loud.

And for once I will agree with Cat. I'd never buy a vehicle that new with that many miles because odds are good it was a rental. On the bright side that has a 6/60 power train warranty. Get her fixed.

I don't think they are even an option as of 2011. It's hard to find a trans shop around here that will even work on one. The used ones get bought up in a hurry. I know my buddy gets calls on them already.

OK, I think these are made by Aisin Warner. If it's the trans I'm thinking of, it has no filter. No good.

Nice 6 speed auto. I am a ford fan when it comes to trucks of mustangs lol, but I will always favor my Nissan altima... My first true love...

Our experience>>>

We bought a 06 Fusion SE 2 weeks after our Son & DIL bought theirs, Wife put 50K+ on it in 2 yrs, then we traded for an SUV, and our Son's now has 78K on theirs & has only had 1 problem with it, the flappers inside the plastic intake wore loose, so we fixed it for round $200 via a NEW intake.

My Dad has a 09 MKZ with is Lincolns version of the Fusion & he hasn't had any problems at all with his.
