Hi guys. I posted the other day and got a bit of an answer, but have not been able to find a definite answer (working all week and PC time is limited). I did search a bit, so please don't hate.

I am definitely buying a 2009 this weekend. Been arranging it over the phone. My options have come down to an XLT and a Sport. Both V6 Supercab. All I want to know is whether the Sport model is like the "Edge" in that it's a different suspension. If it's not the same suspension, which of the two is better, has more options for suspension lifts/upgrades (or cheaper options?)? I'll be lifting it a little while down the road, so I don't want to buy something that can't be lifted. That's all I really need to know! Thanks for your guidance.

I'm hoping to figure this out before going to the dealer Saturday morning so I don't have to look like an idiot there (I guess I am an idiot when it comes to mechanics, sorry).

Believe the XLT is coil... the Sport is torsion bar...
Torsion allow for the quick easy 2" lift with cranking t-bars... or do the pre-key mod...

Coils can use a spacer or slightly larger coil but you have to buy that down the road...

Both are closely priced, as far as actual lift kit goes.

Also, believe there's a spindle lift available for either model... someone else can prolly chime in here... Im a TIB/TTB guy :p

XLT and Sport are simply trim levels. Both trucks will have torsion bars if they are the same ext cab 4wd.

^^ My infos pertaining to it being 2wd btw. :-p

I figured he wasn't talking about a 4wd when he said one has coils.

If I'm not mistaking, I belive the Sport comes with a LSD but I'm not sure which rearend.

Yeah it's going to be a 2WD. And the two I'm looking at are nearly identical as far as options and all that... so I just figured why get the one that's more expensive or harder to lift? Thanks for the info guys.

If it's pretty much the same either way I won't worry about it.

I know for sure that '09+ Sport 2wd's with the 4cyl ARE coilspring. I don't know and it hasn't really been posted before on any of the forums if the 09+ Sport 2wd v6's are coil or torsion yet. Best bet is to get under it and see for yourself. Don't forget to take pics and post 'em!!

I'll flip through eBay and dealer inventorys and craigslist to see if i can find a 09 sport 4.0 2wd....

I guess that will be the only way to be certain. I hate to admit it, but I'm new to this stuff, I'm not sure I'd know what a torsion bar looked like. I know what the coil springs look like since that is what I have now... that should make it an easy enough process of elimination. :dntknw:

draw a line from the middle of the door to the ground....if there's a bar looking thing hanging under the frame, parallel to the frame and it goes from that line and into the lower control arm, it's a torsion bar.

OH yeah.....unsuccessful on finding even ONE '09 sport 2wd on craigslist(many many many major citys), ebay, OR cardomain.

Like said, just trim packages. Front bumper and grill body color, tach and a few other things, usual rear gear was 3.73, L/S an option.

Double post again!

Can anyone confirm this on an '09 Sport 6cyl 2wd???
