its a remanufactured axle. which means it probably came to them with 4;56 Gears. so someone regeared their stock axle and beat it to death and replaced it or this company bought it off a junked ranger. Another possibility is that someone special order8ed it from Ford and it is the exception rather than the rule.

I would say for most everyday applications Sasquactch Ryder and ADMS08 are correct.

also, why did you revive a 6 year old thread to argue with a point that was moot over a half decade ago?

You could ask them where they got the gears from. Could be an aftermarket set?
