2009 F-150

No, but if you were to compare a brand new 78 and a brand new 09 the 09 would get its ass whopped in about everything.

Then if you go come back 20 years later the 09 will be in the boneyard while the 78 is still cruseing around and hauling loads.

later,
Dustin

My dad's 1980 F-350 has flexed enough to contact and dent the back of the cab on both sides with the front of the bed, that was before he repainted it in about '93 shortly after he got it.

The 1970's herd has been thinning rapidly lately it seems, I don't even see as many 1970's-1980's Chevy's as I used to. Most people are at least upgrading into the 90's style as they are becoming similar in price to the older trucks but a whole lot better.

TTB might do a better job at keeping the front tires on the road, but since it only holds them level with the truck unloaded they are going to wear all sorts of goofy. I have overloaded my F-150 and have yet to see daylight under the tires...

I would much rather ram my head into a rattling plastic dash than a non-rattleing steel dash anyday, although people that actually use their trucks usually can't tell if it is the dash making noise or the tools in the back...

As far as far as long term wear goes my brother (he works at a rural dealership) says he sees late 90's F-150 farm trucks come in all the time that look like they have been drug with a chain behind a bulldozer for a week without any attention, the come in with 200k+ for a service. 9 times out of 10 the bottom of the engines are clean with no oil or grease caked over them.

There was actually an article on MSN about the increased lifespan of vehicles hurting Detroit, because the darn things don't want to die on their own, there are not as many that need to be replaced. The downfall of modern trucks will be the wiring, but then that has been the downfall of many a older truck as well.
