2008 Ranger Performance upgrades???

12psi is a conservative number on a stock engine. if he wants to push it to 14-15, THEN i would start to worry about considerable shortening of the motors life. and dont you think that the few guys that were crazy enough to push upwards of 17-18 on a stock motor were being just a little hard on the skinny pedal?

it may be me, but i seen too many people bolt on things like superchargers on stock engines and cause premature death of the engine. by all means im not tryin to discourage him from doing what will probably be fine, but there are always tradeoffs for more power. he just needs to understand the known and possible consequences of what he is proposing. hate to see a 08 with a blown motor, or not wanting to be driven becuase of poor gas mileage.

i guess its just a side effect of me for the longest time just doin what the customer asked as far as lift, tires, engine mod's.

honestly, if he just wanted a bit more umph from his 3.0, the way to get it done without warranty issues and sacraficing reliability would be a gear change, id be curious to find out what kind of gears his truck has, and whether its a auto or manual....

Well if he has an auto then gears would need the computer to be reflashed to work properly. The gears would void the warranty on the rear differential. And any modifications at all have the potential to void the warranty.

No offense, but since this is an '08, I'm assuming you bought it somewhat recently. If you didn't feel that it had enough power, then why did you buy it? IMO, you should have opted for a 4.0 truck.
