does anyone know where I could find a fuse wiring diagram for a 2008 Ford Ranger?

I want to hook-up my cb radio to 12v fuse?

There should be a diagram thing in the owners manual or you can find it in a Hanes or Chilton manual.

I used to tap off of a constant hot (like the cig lighter) when I did mine, but the last time around I tapped power straight off the battery. Just threw in a fuse holder and took the positive (red) all the way. Then I ran the negative into the engine bay and found some good metal to attach it to. (I did take the negative to the battery but the antenna seems to tune better if you don't).

I connected it directly to the battery and I dont like the idea of the cb radio constantly getting power all day while my trucks off the cb radio has no off switch.

Tomorrow I want to take my drivers seat out run the power and (PA speaker jack) under the rubber flooring out under the seat into the center console, so I have a stealth PA system in my center console, and functioning cb radio w/ antenna eventually in my bed or on my roof.

Question is I was hoping someone had a diagram what a 12v fuse under the hood looks like?

It is complicated because I have no idea what I'am doing or looking for! (asking for help)

So now you are telling me to run it from the battery into a toggle switch that will turn it on?

I much rather just run it from the fuse box under the hood that my amps power comes out of so when my truck starts the cb radio has power.

Basically pop the hood and on the drivers side, up near the firewall there is a fuse/relay box. Just in front of it there is a cover that pops off, exposing a huge connector with two studs and two 10mm nuts holding it on. That goes right to the battery. Undo one of the 10mm nuts, and using a ring eye crimped to the red wire of the CB, attach it. Cut/splice a "inline fuse holder" from the parts store in that same wire, install probably a 2a, maybe 5a fuse. Run that red wire into the cab. Find a switch you want, should have to terminals on it. Attach the end of the red wire that goes to the cab on one end of the switch, the other end will go directly into the CB (red wire). Then take the black wire from the CB and find a good ground either under the dash, or under the hood there are a few great grounding locations.

Mine is run straight to 12v all the time, since my radio has a on/off switch inside.

With only 4 watts of transmit power (for a 40 channel) there is no need to connect the +12V lead directly to the battery. The internal decoupling capacitors will keep the +12V clean at the RF output stage.

You need to connect the +12V to a "switched 12V" point in your fuse box. This will keep from getting a dead battery if you leave your CB radio on.

I agree. If you do run a wire through the firewall, make damn sure you use a rubber grommet or some type of conduit to protect the wire from being rubbed thru on metal. Consider conduit all along the length of the whole wire for the same reason. The best stuff is the plastic with a slit down the side of it, just poke the wire inside the plastic and wrap electrical tape around every so often.

If your fusebox uses those spade connectors, attach one to the red wire and plug it into the fuesbox. There is normally a few open spares. Find one that is hot with the key on (verify this using a test light). Or you could find a wire for something else that is hot with the key on only and slpice into it. Like Bob said, it really doesn't take poop power-wise to run a chicken band (CB) radio...
