2004 2wd Ranger 302 swap

I have a question regarding the dash cluster for a 302 swap into my 04 Ranger.
I have not started the swap, but just trying to gather info before I start and couldn’t find an answer to my question.
Will I have to swap the cluster and dash harness from the donor explorer to get my gauges to work? From what I understand the 2004 ranger was the first year to start using Canbus and might cause issues. Is this true?

What year donor are you looking at? It might matter for this.
