2002 Turn Signal Stalk Question

Is there a different turn signal stalk? When I hit it to turn left it’s pretty much touching my knee.

Mine too, and I have a 1984. I am 6ft 1, so I think that contributes to the problem. My old BII doesn't have tilt wheel, but I am assuming if it had that option, it would help with this problem.

I noticed when I look up replacements there’s two types. One like what I have and another with a more pronounced elbow that moves it higher.

There are two styles as far as the orientation of the stalk lever. One that swoops up and one that swoops down. It seems rather random on which one they use. I don't know if they are interchangeable or not either or why they would install one over the other.

I would suggest trying one that swoops up and see if it works but electrical items tend to be nonreturnable and it takes quite a bit of work to tear apart part of the dash so you can get the steering column clam shells off in order to get at the connector(s) and the mounting hardware. I guess it depends on how motivated you are, and whether you are willing to eat the cost if it turns out the other style of switch won't work.

My previous single cab ranger had a tilt wheel which put the signal switch out of my knee. My current single cab doesn't have tilt and signalling left while using the clutch makes my knee hit it back to center. Gonna start looking into what's involved in swapping in a tilt column

Interesting, my Explorer is definitely tilt but the dumb thing is you can't see the wiper knob thing through the steering wheel and the '97 Ranger is not tilt and the wheel is in the way of the wiper thing but swap the multi function switches and both would be readable! I'm not curious enough to rip stuff apart and check if the multi function switches are interchangeable at this point...
