Does anyone know why, while driving, my driver's side power mirror will shake (the reflective part, not the black housing) causing me a headache? :annoyed: I can hardly see at 55 MPH, while my passenger's side mirror is solid as a rock. Is there any help other than replacing the whole mirror? It is a power mirror on a 2002 Ranger Fx4 Supercab. Any help would be great.

This isn't the answer you are looking for, I'm sure, but my 03 Edge 4x4 does the same thing. The mirrors are power and the driver's side is unusable above 50mph or so. Hopefully someone can help, because it drives me crazy too!

I'm glad someone knows what I'm talking about. I guess if I don't get an answer I will just buy one. Thanks for the reply.

My 93 ranger with power mirrors did the same thing on the drivers side. I took some airline tubing that is used in aquariums and cut 2 pieces about an 1" and 1/2, then I cut a slit in them lenght wise and fit them over the edge of the rim of the glass part of the mirror closest to the window side of the mirror. The wobble is gone and the tubing is clear so you dont really see it.
Just a thought, because tubing is about 1.99 for 8 feet. Alot cheaper than a new mirror.

I would pop off the glass and see if the snap in the middle is gone. i had a problem on my 95, the screw were gone, that adjust the angle causing a wobble, not sure if they changed them for 02?

I might try something like that. Will the mirror part just pop off? Is it a ball and socket type deal?

mine was, not sure if they changed and if they did in what year, try and tilt it and peek in from different angles....

I went to the junkyard and practiced, to figure out my year lol...

Don't do it. It'll break the pivots. You'll give up trying to fix it.

I've got a bad one sittin' out back. Smacked a flexible traffic marker.

I suggest you get one from Ford, or buy one aftermarket that is Ford. I bought a cheaper replacement and it jiggles, which is probably what's on your trucks, the cheapie.

Stuff some soft spongy black foam strips on the outside portion of the mirror.

Okay, I will just try stuffing something around the mirror as you suggest. I'll take my time and make it look inconspicuous :icon_thumby:. Thanks
