2002 Explorer console in 96 Ranger?

Anyone tried to mount a newer Explorer console in an older Ranger? If so how hard was it and what mods were needed?

if an 02 is similar to the 99 model center console then yea i got one in my 95 that fits like its stock.installation wasnt bad.i took out the ac blower in the console and all the wires for back seat radio and ac control.then took out my ash tray and 12v plug.bracket fits right in without any sort of cuttin.i did have to put 2 pieces of 1x4 under the back b/c my ranger dips down in the back unlike an explorer.other than that its all screws and maybe a lil super glue if u break the snaps that hold the cupholders like i did

The '02+ Explorer center consoles will not just bolt into a Ranger like the '95-'01 Explorer center console.

The '02+ center consoles run up under the dash where the '95-'01 Explorer consoles run into the dash.

I could'nt pass it up for $40 so I went ahead and bought it...I see what you mean about how it goes under the dash..I think I can trim it back and make it look factory.

Any ideas on how to mount an Explorer console to a Ranger floor? I know alot of people have done it...How did you go about doing it? Thanks in advance.

the one i bought came with the bracket.i just screwed it into the floorboard with screws that i was sure not to hit the transmission or any wires
