2001 Ford Ranger xlt double cab 2wd v8 swaped? Do i need to reinforce the frame?

I bought a v8 swapped 2001 ford ranger xlt double cab 2wd.

The frame was not reinforced. Do i need to Reinforce the frame?

It has a 5.0 mercury mountaineer v8 in it, rear end and transmission

I am wondering if the torque could bend the frame?

Generally speaking... Nope.

You'd need to be pushing more power than a stock block 5.0 will support before the frame became an issue. Those blocks tend to start breaking in the 500 hp range.

That said, there may be other reasons to reinforce and stiffen the frame and suspension.

torque is not a problem. rot can definitely be a problem though.

The truck i bought, the bed is high for some reason so that rules out the torque theory. And the truck to my knowledge has not been in an accident
My ranger has a 19.5 gallon gas tank i am wondering if that gas tank was swapped cause when i google it says it is suppost to have a 16.5 gallon tank. A mechanic thought the bed was on the gas tank and could not go down. Another theory is that the rubber mounts have broken because of a heavy load. My worst fear is that the frame is bent. I have the truck in the shop and am waiting for an answer

I sure hope its just something like that. The truck is 23 years old so that is entirely possible. Would you happen to know how long it takes to remove the bed, I have a flare side truck bed

if it is a true California truck. about 10 minutes with power tools.

hard to say without seeing it in person.

if it has the wrong tank in it that could be as you suspect.

though a deteriorating rubber cab mount would lower the corner making the bed appear to be raised.


if its a Michigan truck...or from the rust belt .. then you may be in trouble.

Edit: My rear driver's side cab corner sat 3 inches low when I bought the truck. The mount was completely gone.

The truck is a California Truck so it shouldn't be rusted bad.

Im a little concerned i dropped the truck off at 8:30 am and its now 11:38am now. So they must have not gotten to it yet or something is wrong.

How quickly will they know if the frame is bent? I would think immediately because it would be obvious.

My truck bed is sitting too high on both sides.
