So I made a custom snorkle for my 2001 3.0 on sunday. Basically I did a mix of the two that are posted in the tech library. I pulled the fender off, cut a 2" hole throught the inner fender wall and the air box. Then I ran a piece 0f 2" pvc through the wall and into the box, I put a 90* bend on that and ran 28" of pvc up the fender wall then put a 45* connector on the end of that. Now it grabs air right by the opening for the hood vent. You cannot see any see any part of the snorkle with the fender back on, as it doesnt stick up through All connections sealed with clear silicone. My question is two fold; is this pipe large enough to get a sufficent amount of air, it runs fine, really smooth actually, and two, could this cause me to get worse gas milage? tia. I can get some pics this weekend if requested.

if it runs fine it should be good. the only way you can tell mpg is go through a tank or a few and see where it takes you but there should no change. the only other thing you could do is put a resevoir box under the hood to compensate for when you stomp on the gas so the air doesn't have to come all the way down the pipe and less hesitation when you do so.

i would like to see some pictures
