2001’ Lowering Questions

I’ve got a 2001 XLT Ext Cab and the normal ride height just isn’t what I want. I wanna do either a 2/3, 3/5 or a 4/5. I honestly have no experience with suspension modifications so I am just looking for a some guidance past the basic guides on the site. I’ve heard I might need new camber bolts but don’t know when I would need to do those, I’ve heard anything more then 2 inches needs new camber bolts but I am not positive. Thanks for the info.

Do you have coil springs in the front or is it a torsion bar front suspension?

Coil sprung 2wds there at least were lowering kits. Probably still are. Torsion bar and you end up in the same boat as me and @JoshT . For more than an inch or two, you need different upper control arms. The companies that used to make them for the torsion bar suspension have stopped production.

Adjustable cams are needed along with an alignment is needed for any suspension adjustment.

Lowering the back is easier. There are a lot of options for that.

Also, what is your skill and tool situation? If you can weld and fabricate it opens up more options. For both ends.

It has coil springs on the front and leaf spring rear.

Coil springs are good. Leaf springs in the rear are standard for all 83-11 Rangers.

i wish my truck was coil springs. torsion bars make Lowering past a certain point a pain
