I have a 2000 Ranger 3.0l Flex Fuel 4wd truck. I have called many dealerships and companys that remanufacture transmissions and I keep getting different word.

I am trying to find out the model of transmission in my truck.
Ford Dealership in my hometown told me it was a A4LD
Jasper told me it was a 4R44E
Rhino told me it was a 4R55E (for certian because they have technicians that researched it)
Called another Ford Dealership in another state they told me for sure it was a 4R55E
Called the source Ford Motor Company headquaters they said thier technical data stated it was a A4LD-4R44E-4R55E

I am in Japan right now and my truck is back home at my parents house. I want to buy a transmission and have it installed and ready for when I get back stateside. So I guess my question is what transmission should I buy?

Any info is greatly aprreciated.

a 3.0 should be backed by a 4R44E.

the best way to be sure would be to have someone check the drivers door sticker.

Thanks what information should I be looking for on the sticker? Is it a code or does it just plainly say 4R44E?

It will list a transmission code, which can be compared to the list in the tech library.

Thanks alot for the information...

It is definitely a 4R44E. 4cyl and 3.0 V6s are ALWAYS equipped with a 4R44E after 1995. The 4R55E is the 4.0 V6 version post 1995, while the 5R55E is the 5 speed automatic behind the 4.0 V6. I can't remember when they started offering the 5 speed automatic.

Stay away from the dealer that told you it's an A4LD. If they can't get that straight, you don't want to buy anything from them. BTW , it's a 4R44E.
