2000 4 cyl 2.5L Ford Ranger Trying to remove cylinder head

No,I am taking it down to the machine shop after Christmas.Spending, spending ,spending for kids and grand kids

I know what you mean. Christmas morning it is well worth it though.

You have any racing tips you'd share on the www with us? I wouldn't be surprised if you said "no" and you save your tips for the track.

Also, what do you use for keeping the engine clean? I imagine it gets dusty on the track. I drive an 18 wheeler hauling sand and rock for a concrete company. So it gets dusty where I work everyday.

I saw an old truck and the engine was spotless, not a speck of grease anywhere. I wondered how they got it so clean.

We race on asphalt so isn't too bad.Paint the engine a good durable heat paint and just spray it off once or so a year when you go to the car wash.We can usaully just take the air hose and blow ours off.My Chevelle stays pretty clean and that just gets washed

How were y'alls holidays? I sure enjoyed the time off.

I got a bit of a stumper, on my heater. When I flush the heater core and reconnect the hoses the heater works fine until I switch the selector to the "OFF" position. Then it blows cool air when I try to turn the heater back on to blowing heat out the top vents. Then I flush the heater core with water again, leaving the selector pointing to blowing air out the top vents. Then the heater works fine again.

Perhaps an "air bubble" is forming in the heater core when I turn it off preventing flow?

Any ideas?

Also, what can we do when fuel hits 4 or 5 dollars a gallon? Any way to flex fuel the Ranger 2000?

Hey everybody,

Checkin in. My Ranger runs fine since y'all helped me rebuild it. I've put about 9000 more miles on it. Everything seems fine except for 1. I believe I have fuel leaking into my oil. It looks a little drippy when I change the oil and smells like gas. I change it at about 1700 miles. Next time I will probably change it at 1000. Is there anything that can be added to oil to compensate for the fuel in the oil? What will fuel in the oil eventually do? destroy the bearings?

question for johnrhadfield

(or for anyone who knows FIRSTHAND)

John, you did so much in there, surely you encountered the starter relay. My Ranger, same model and year as yours, does not have it in location both described and pictured in Haynes manual, i.e. on fender near battery. Need to find it.
