Hello, I have a 2000 XLT 4x4 stick. The Bosch spark plug came apart in the cylinder and killed the motor. Anyway I am looking for a 3.0 Flex fuel motor at the yard. Will any 3.0 2000 and newer work (taurus 3.0?). I am being told that 2000 was a one year motor? Any thoughts.
Thanks
Mark

dude

i'd be yelling at bosch over the phone about paying for your motor, seriously. you make enough of a fuss, i think they would want take care of it

Grab any 3.0 and swap all you're accessories. If you use a taurus 3.0 you'll need to get the RWD intake manifold gaskets.

Oh I did. I sent in my plugs and waited a month. They said they were going to take care of me. After a month I got my plugs and a letter saying that I used the wrong gas and to much carbon buildup. Not sure how the hell they determined that from plugs with 7,000 miles and looking new, other than the trode missing. I could do the motor swap myself but I am having a friend who is a state inspector do it so he can help me when i sue Bosch. I should have known not to use Bosch in a Ford.
Thanks

Where are you located? I know someone who has a Vulcan pulled from a wrecked 2003 Taurus with only 18k on it. It is located in SE PA.

18k! wow is that for real? I am in Michigan, Ferndale. That might be worth the shipping. Have you heard the motor running? What can you tell me about it. The only problem I see it that my truck is setup for flex fuel. Not sure what I would have to do to make it work.

You should be good to go with the FF since it's just the fuel system that is different. just swap everything over from one motor to another.

If you ever run e-85, any flex fuel vulcan will work. As stated, if you go with one from a Taurus, you'll need ranger specific head gaskets and lower intake manifold. If you don't ever use e-85 or never plan on it, you can use any 3.0 you can get your hands on, although I'd stick with 98-newer models.
