2000 3.0 to 2000 5.0.

Update: made some more progress. It took about 15 mins to get the motor in and bolted down. Wiring is complete as well as swapping over the pats. Next is trans line and the serp belt stuff.

Swap the drivers side motor mount and that was pretty much it as far as modifications go. There is a little bit to change on battery cable harness. If anyone is interested let me know. I will post a write up.

If you already had the 130amp alternator you should be good. Only thing is the solenoid plug. Looks like you are making progress. You are going 4x4 right? Looks like you might have nicked your core support a little.

I did. It was dark when I set the motor in. The alternator is a 200 amp that was put into the truck before I got it. Does any wiring for the solenoid plug run to the pats box?

Nope. All the wiring for the pats is in the dash. It should not matter for you anyways. All you have to do is swap the box and lock cylinder with expo key to match the 5.0 pcm and your good. 99 and up ranger came with pats.

How did you do the solenoid wiring?

Can I just splice into the main harness and match the colors going to the ecm?

Solenoid wire plug
This plug is right underneath the lines that come off the abs.
The explorer and the ranger plug do not match up. (I think they were both male)
The Ranger plug has 5 wires
Yellow/white strip (Starter solenoid wire)
Red/yellow strip (signal wire high/low pressure a/c switch)
Black-white strip (ground for high/low pressure a/c switch)
Gray/white stripe(a/c clutch relay signal wire)
Black wire(a/c clutch relay ground wire)
Explorer plug has 3 wires
Yellow/white strip (Starter solenoid wire)
Gray/white stripe(a/c clutch relay signal wire)
Black wire(a/c clutch relay ground wire)
The reason the other two are not in there is because they come out by the radiator. So just wire up the 3 wire plug from the explorer and your good to go.

Is that plugged into your ranger harness.I am trying to figure out what you got going on there. This the main 3 wire plug I wired in from my 2000 expo. The plug on the right is my stock 98 5 wire ranger plug. All I needed to hook up was the solenoid, ac clutch relay signal, and clutch relay ground. The other two were obsolete because I tapped into the pressure switch signal wires by the radiator. You should be able to wire the same as me and everything will work. I am walking in and out looking at my truck. That plug you are holding, was it attached to the fender well just to the back side of the battery.

Never mind. My donor had the message center. The extra wiring is for the oil level sensor

Have a little clean up to do. But now I have the idea of putting a 5 speed in it. Anyone know what’s involved in this? Can I use the 5speed out of an f150?

A five speed out of a 4.2 will work fine. You will have to get the pcm tuned to take the auto trans programming out.

What about the t case, cross member and driveshafts?
