Hi all,
My name is Mike and I'm joining you from lovely CT. Years ago, my very first NEW vehicle I purchased was a 2004 Ranger. The truck was great, but family needs and a bunch of other factors led to me trading it off.
I now work in a couple of Ford dealerships and just bought a 1996 Ranger XL 4x2. I had a 2008 F150, but with the recent addition of a daughter, that vehicle was traded in on a 2009 Fusion SEL Sport V6, so I needed a beater truck for around the house.
At any rate, the pickup has 126k miles on it and was a fleet vehicle. The bed has a series of dents on the passenger side, and the bed floor has some rot. However, it's a 2.3/auto that runs and drives fine. The only other issues I can see are a loose front end and bald tires on the tiny little 14" wheels.
I'm going to throw a drop-in bedliner in it and am seeking some of the late-model Ranger steels wheels in 15" to dress it up. I really like those with the cop-car center caps. I'm going to do dream beams/flip kit to get it down and plan to do old school pinstriping on it along with a cool hot rod sign painted on each door. That will be it, with maybe the addition of a cd player at some point-I expect my total investment including purchase price to be under $1000.
I am in charge of a dealer group in CT that includes two Ford stores so if anybody wants to buy a new one-please feel free to email me for a ridiculous deal! I have about 20 Rangers on the ground and ready to rock.
At any rate...thanks for having a great forum and I look forward to talking to you in the future.
Mike
