When did the two piston calipers start appearing on the Dana 35?

I'm rebuilding the BII and need new Calipers anyway, anyone have any info on this>?

(I just remember seeing that there were some 2 piston ones at sometime:D If I'm wrong, you can slap me)

1995-1997 on Rangers ONLY.

If you want them to be easy to connect on an '89-94 (and some late 1988's)
you need to order a NON-ABS Brake hose for the drivers side from a 1997.

1997 was the ONLY year that ford made any Non-ABS two piston trucks
(I have no idea why)

If you are retrofitting a two-piston brake D35 TTB onto an earlier
RBV (Gen1 Ranger/Bronco2) you specifically want the ABS style brake hoses.

The '89-94's without ABS use the frame end of the drivers side brake hose
as a T-block to split the brake line off the master cylinder to the left and
right side brakes (Thus the NON ABS hose)
If on the other hand you have an ABS equipped '93-94 you want the
ABS hoses. (Duh!)

RBV's '83-88 (except for some late '88's) have a seperate T-block mounted
to the frame that divides the brake line and a short line that runs from the
block to the drivers side hose. so the 95-97 ABS hose will work fine.

Getting the brake bias right is another issue that I'm still playing with
on my 1987 with the 1997 D35 and Two-piston brakes.

I'm using a '90 D35, NonABS, I have made a custom t-block with some extended lines(she's got a lift on her:icon_thumby:) The t-block connect directly to all 3 lines, one from Master, and Right and Left side. i'll have to get some calipers and see what I need to do, the connection on the caliper is the same I'm assuming?
 
IF you have aftermarked braided brake hoses the
ones from most manufacturers will fit either caliper style.

The line attaches to the two-piston calipers "on top" of the caliper
rather than to the back of the cylinder.

I switched to the integral T-block of the 1997 style brake lines
because I was also fabricating my own hardlines (316L stainless steel)
and the integral T-block allowed for elimination of two connections
(the one at either end of the metal line between the T and the hose end)

The only hardlines on my truck I didn't replace yet are the lines actually
on the rear axle, mostly because I didn't want to waste my limited supply
of 3/16" stainless tube making lines for the drum brake axle.

as it stands I need to get another length of line to actually do
the on-axle lines anyway.

Corrosion resistance was the point.

After having to replace the line to the rear (along the frame rail and behind the
fuel tank) I had long planned to switch to stainless line.

That bastard of a line ain't gonna rot out again.

BTW, to retrofit the two piston brakes also requires the '95-97 sterring knuckles and preferably the beams.

The steering knuckles are a "Must have", while the beams are a "really nice to have"
as the beams themselves tend to ahve a bit more weld holding them together but the most immportant thing is the stronger reinforcement in the area where the lower balljoint
goes into the beam.
