2.9L pushing 33s?

longevity on the d28/7.5 is the same as most any other axles you'd use: you can break any of them if you don't treat them right.
4.56's in my d28/7.5 x 2 years and no problems or complaints at all. i don't bash them up off road. i don't go looking for the biggest pothole on the roads. i don't chirp my tires. i don't burn rubber. i don't mash the gas pedal to the floor half way through a turn.
i take care of my truck and it takes care of me. sort a symbiotic relationship.

I was kinda hoping that would work for me as well lol. But you cant always avoid that "whoops..." :P

Stay with stock axles and run 33"s with lift, and a v8? Would a v8 with if anything mild mods pose a threat?

a 4.0 will destroy d28/7.5"... Do you already have that 302 you want to put it? If not, I would try to find a donor truck with suitable front/rear axles to swap in too.
According to Ford, your d28 shouldn't run anything bigger than a 31.
With that said, I know lots of people here have run 33s and even 35s on a d28 without breaking, but your definately playing against the odds on that gamble.

the d28 under the power of a stock v8 will not hold long....

So basically i need to do a D35 and 8.8 swap? :/ Lol well, if your gonna do something, may as well do it right the first time :P

if you put a d35 in the front and a 8.8 in the rear try to find some with 4.10s and then you won't have to worry as much about your gearing, better yet find a d35 and 8.8 already geared with 4.56s

Lol Well my truck is soon to be totalled off now. Acsident after school smashed up front end. Not that bad, but the trucks not worth a whole lot in the eyes of the insurance company.

So thanks for the help and info everyone. My next Ranger i will surely put this to good use.
