I understand in some cases if you flip the thrust plate around on the cam bearing this has been known to seal the cam bearing from leaking and restore oil pressure.

Does anyone know anything about this procedure and how hard is it to access the thrust plate? From what my manual says it's under the timing cover. I need to change my water pump anyway so I thought while I was in there I would flip the thrust plate just to see if it works.

Am I correct in assuming that by flipping the thrust plate this will takes up some of the slop between the bearing and where it seats, I guess what I'm asking is, how does this procedure remedy low OP.

Thanks
