My credo
Give 'yer balls a tug. Fight me.
Looking for a 2.5" cat back system, or intermediate pipe and tailpipe for my 1988 2.9 xlt extended cab. Tried searching the forum, couldn't find a thread.

Looked around the interwebs to find one, but no luck either. Just a lot of walker 2" crap.

Would prefer to avoid Walker/Dynomax. Had a Dynomax on one of my jeeps. Hated it.

2.5" is a bit excessive for the 2.9 honestly. I have 2.5 on my 4.0 and I think it's too much.

Normally I would agree. I didn't do the CFM displacement math, but I currently have the ported upper intake on it, ported lower is still under works, JBA headers, 2.5 in magnaflow cats, and the J & C enterprises heads (think the valves are larger). Definitely having some exhaust flow issues now judging from sound / removing the tailpipe and muffler and driving it (massive difference)

No offense @adsm08, but had a custom cat-back fabricated and installed by Graft's in Dawson, PA this weekend. 2.5" mandrel bent tubing and a Flowmaster flowfx muffler. HOLY CRAP WHAT A DIFFERENCE.

Truck is just fun at this point. A 2.5" exhaust is probably useless in a bone stock 2.9l. But with the modifications I've made, it changed it from a "not bad" engine to a string of giggles and exhaust drone.

Okay. If you say so.

I don't mind the criticism at all. Keep in mind though, that everything on the top end is fully ported, and the plan is to introduce either a SC14 supercharger, or a T28 turbocharger. Seems worth doing to me.
