2.9 to a 4.0

just wondering would a 4.0 with a a4ld from a 92 explorer bolt right in to a 87 ranger with a 2.9 and an a4ld both 4x4

Yes, it will bolt in. You will have to swap in the donor vehicle's computer, wiring harness and distribution box. You will also want the radiator and throttle cable. The main thing will be hooking up all the wiring correctly to get it to run. I know there are quite a few in depth details on this swap here at the forum.
