2.9 lover HELLO to all

[2.9 lover]

Hello to all, I just got a 1984 B II home today after almost a year of looking for one not falling apart. Pictures and cleaning start tomorrow. At first I was going to put the 2.9 out of my 87 Ranger in her, but motor seems strong enough to get me through winter, while I find and rebuild a 302 to put in 2.8 place. I have loved Bronco IIs looks for a long time, and this one is going to be with for a long while. I will be asking questions and asking for advice, as this is only 2nd 4X4 I have ever owned. I can and will reply to questions and am open to any e-mails sent my way. So glad to have found this site, and hope the best to all.

Welcome to the boards!

The 2.9 is a great engine but it does have it's set backs (like cracking heads, not too much power) but whatever..I'm with you, I like the 2.9 a lot. Almost any motor has a flaw or two.

Sounds like you've got a lot of things lined up for this truck. Post those pics when you can!

2.9 lover huh? i liked mine....TILL i dropped a 4.0 in its place in my b2! lol. the 2.9 never gave me fits tho. just my a4ld, guess i've just been lucky! lol

Welcome...although I had a 2.9 in my second Ranger I tossed it for a rebuilt 2.3...the 2.9 wouldn't start for me and I found too many things going on with it...the previous owner said he just had it put in but it had "issues"...so when it wouldn't start I decided to yank it...and the auto tranny...

I could have saved myself plenty of time and energy and had the truck on the road quicker by trying to fix the 2.9 but...well, it was one of those things you just gotta do...
