2.9 Crank and no start - getting fuel and spark...


It doesn't back fire or attempt to start.

The only thing I can guess now is that the timing chain jumped time.
it would backfire if that was it or simply run very rough.what color is your spark?it should be blue.if you spray a little starter fluid in the intake and it won't pop at all its got to be the ignition.if it only runs on ether then its the fuel system

The shop adjusted the timing and it runs better than it ever has.

The spark was a bright orange, the same as my buddies running '89.

I tried starter fluid and got no result.
 
i wonder if your distributor bolt came loose.all they did was twiddle the distributor around?what did they say they did to it?the distributor came loose on my 88 2.9 but i figured it was the moron previous owner.

gotta love these 2.9 ignition systems
 
They said they rotated the distributor about 90* and then retimed it and she ran fine. I guess it did come lose, who knows since I didn't take it lose or time it.
