Trying to put a rear sump pan on an early block. Looks like I need two main bolts with the stud ends to mount the pick up. Anyone got a any ideas where to find some?

did you check a hardware store?

It sounds like he's looking for the studded bolts that go into the main cap for the pickup tube support. That isn't something you're likely to find a replacement for at the local hardware store. Maybe at a specialty fastener store or McMaster-Carr.

Is that bolt possibly the same as the 2.9 and 4.0L? That would give more potential donors if it is.

I think he’s looking for bolts with studs sticking out of their heads so the pickup bracket can be mounted to them with a nut. The primary purpose of the bolt is to hold the main bearing cap in place. Secondary (the stud extension) is to mount the pickup. Not the kind of thing a hardware store is going to stock.

Not sure where to find that. Maybe Google main bearing studs for a 2.8l. Might have to figure out a different mounting strategy.

dang. I had that all typed in and forgot to hit post a few hours ago.

I bought some from a 4.0l. The 4.0L have an early and a late style bolt. The early ones have a stud on the top so we'll how close they are.
